This position is responsible for developing and implementing news and content strategies with a priority on increasing the visibility of the College in the marketplace and the goal of achieving maximum exposure, awareness, and understanding of the College?s key marketing messages, campaign priorities, presidential initiatives, and brand. This position performs a variety of writing, photographic, editing, research, and other activities to support these efforts, including thinking strategically about how to communicate with various audiences; contributing content for multiple media and working directly with the College?s social media platforms and News@Gettysburg site. This position reports directly to the Director of Communications & Media Relations.
Bachelor?s degree in liberal arts, marketing, communications, journalism, or related field required; 1 to 3 years of professional experience highly preferred. Experience with providing content for Web or traditional media outlets; solid analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and on deadline; excellent interviewing and reporting skills are desired. Experience in a Mac environment; superior grammar and spelling; copy-editing experience using AP and other styles; the ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple projects; excellent news judgment; excellent enterprise in finding and following up on stories; digital photographic and video skills preferred.
The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of individuals, develop positive working relationships, successfully organize and prioritize work tasks, cooperatively work as a team member, collaborate with individuals on projects, and display creativity and imagination.
